The Connemara Peninsula

We headed to Clifden, on the Connemara Peninsula, an encountered our first serious rain. After holing up for a bit and then toodling around, we left Connemara in brilliant sunshine, off to Innis Mór.

This is a bog road, that goes over the peat bogs, used mostly by sheep and turf-cutters.

Lunch in the lee of church walls, the only place we could find out of the wind.

We decided to bail on our camping plans, as the weather was only worsening. We found a place in this nice B&B, which we used to dry our stuff.

Fuschia and hydrangeas grow like crazy here
On our way out of Connemara the sun shone and the result was dazzling.

On the ferry to the Aran Islands

This road is the only way onto the island in the distance, and it can only be traversed at low tide.
